Coaching
The Importance of Coaches
To run effectively, our club relies on a dedicated team of committed and qualified coaches. All our coaches hold up-to-date UK Athletics coaching licenses, having completed the necessary training courses and undergone PVG checks. They volunteer their time to lead club training sessions and support athletes at competitions.
Coaching Development
We encourage both members and parents of junior athletes to consider gaining coaching qualifications and becoming part of our coaching team. Expanding our pool of coaches and the range of athletics disciplines we can offer will help us grow as a club and enhance our competitiveness.
The club is committed to developing high-quality coaching and fully supports those looking to progress through athletics coaching qualifications. These qualifications are gained through UK Athletics training courses run by Scottish Athletics.
We actively encourage our coaches and helpers to attend courses, workshops, development days, and regional or national training sessions. The club funds course fees and covers reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
Coaching Opportunities
To support our continued growth, we are looking to expand our coaching team across various levels and disciplines. If you're interested in coaching, we will cover the costs and provide full support and guidance. You don’t need to be an athlete—just enthusiastic about helping others in athletics.
We welcome applications from parents of junior athletes and anyone who might be interested. Coaching is flexible, with a rota system in place, so you won’t be required to coach every session.
If you're interested, please contact the Club Secretary for more information.
